It's amazing how Amazon went from a nifty online bookstore to a horrifying megacorp that is actually trying to take over everything in the world.
I'm so disappointed that the concept of a "smart home" has been entirely co-opted by predatory corporations like Amazon and other online pirates. It would be a great thing to experience, but there's *no* way I would invite all that surveillance into my home just to get auto-control for my lights. Any product (aside from intentional ones like PCs or a streaming device) that insists on being online is a non-starter for me. My fridge or microwave? Nope, that's just stupid.
It's not just privacy. The most profitable Amazon division is AWS - they control most cloud market, i.e. modern Internet infrastructure. They kill any competition, because they own environment as well.
Privacy is a difficult area to legislate, but what happened to anti trust? where did that go and why is it legal for one company to own and control so much?
Probably your best video, James. Appreciate you taking a deep dive on this issue. Like right to repair, privacy's importance may not be fully realized until it's gone.
This is probably the most unbiased video Breaking Points has done. More real content please!
Can we take a second to acknowledge how dope the production quality is? Fire video, man.
These segments from James are a great addition to the show.
Love this one, thanks for a detailed explanation, fresh perspective, and detailed reporting!
Really appreciate more focus on this
