AI Failed at Ford - Rehired Engineers to Fix Problems

Hope those engineers held their ground and got at least 3x their pay

My man Ed Zitron said it perfectly recently: the vast majority of CEOs & bosses have no idea what thier workers actually do (paraphrased), so saying AI can replace them has disaster baked in from the start

Wow... Can you imagine being rehired after being let go by a moron who thought AI could do your job just as well for cheaper? It should the moron's turn to be let go now.

Ah! Of course if they had access to Mythos or Fable they would be able to solve the problems at once 🤣🤣

I hope these guys charged a fucking gazillion dollars to come back and fix this shit.

I used to work in an engineering factory ..it's quite surprising the skills and knowledge that some humans can develop over the years that nobody even knows they have until for some reason they leave the company. I can easily imagine the problems Ford would have had if they suddenly got rid of a load of their experienced engineers.

When will these highly regarded people learn the value of institutional memory?

In defense of the c-suite, they're physically incapable of seeing beyond next quarter so things like maintenance just don't exist

Handing System Administration off to AI sounds like a nightmare. “Hey Dave, I got rid of the problem by deleting all storage.”

That's why I see growth of QA jobs on my local job board.
