Spoiler-Free Review: Initial Impressions of Disney+'s Alien Earth Episodes 1 & 2
Discover whether Noah Hawley’s Alien Earth successfully merges Xenomorph horror with philosophical AI narratives. We analyze pacing, production design, and if the split focus rewards long-time fans of the franchise.
Short Summary
- Exceptional production design mirrors the original Alien so closely it is frequently mistaken for it.
- The series immediately splits focus between intense Xenomorph horror and deeper, philosophical AI discussions.
- The narrative structure initially feels "fractured," balancing intense action with Black Mirror-esque themes.
Paul and Matt review the opening two episodes of Alien Earth on Disney+, debating the effectiveness of pairing robust horror with complex themes derived heavily from Ridley Scott's legacy. Their excitement remains cautious due to the show's immediate dual narrative paths.

I want to see a dream sequence on a plane where a xenomorph says "Allen"
As a huge fan of the Dark Horse Aliens comics line, this sounds like it would've fit right in with those types of stories. Can't wait!
I really wish Raised by Wolves was given another season. It had something special about it
Seeing as how I am excited for the AI synth stuff and was worried about how the Xeno would be handled, this sounds perfect. The reason I like the idea of the Wendy plot is because each Alien movie has its own stamp by its creator and then that world gets interrupted by the alien. We had truckers, marines, prisoners, mercs etc and now we have weird synth children by Hawley so I am all in for that. Like a standalone story that gets thrusted into the alien universe.
0:45 I didn’t click on the minor spoiler’s channel though, I came for the heavy spoilers
Would love to see more of Matt the editor in these type of videos, he’s been great in the videos I’ve seen of him lately

It's felt like it wanted to be like Aliens but on Earth with a cub scout version of the space Marines who go into a crashed building without securing the perimeter. it's kind of lame but intriguing at the same time.
The original Alien Xenomorph was clearly heavily inspired by how terrifyingly cold and cruel nature can be, with a lot of what the Xenomorph does being stuff that we actually see in the insect world with things like parasitic wasps. There is a lot of conceptually horrifying things in nature that are similar, and I hope that some of the new aliens in this series does similar as far as exploring those things, or at least giving us something original with them that FEELS similar. If it ends up being just "it's good at killing you," then that isn't as scary as "Oh no, there are far more creative ways to use you to get what it wants and needs."
I see Berserk books, Metal Gear Solid Collector Edition, Predator T-Shirts, Akira's meme and a review of the first two episodes of Alien Earth. I'm a simple man, I click on like and put the video on my favorite.
