Secret History #12: Heaven on Earth
The Religious Imagination: Driving Force Behind Human Achievement
Discover why modern materialism limits achievement and how ancient societies, driven by spiritual purpose, built wonders we cannot replicate today.
Short Summary
- Debunk common myths about human nature, including materialism, the supremacy of the nuclear family, and linear intelligence progression.
- Assert that complex, massive achievements like the Pyramids arose from deep religious devotion and a compelling, shared communal vision.
- Demonstrate how early societies prioritized spiritual harmony, sometimes accepting a harder material life (like early farming) to achieve connection to the divine.
- The lecture reorients historical understanding by framing human history around the consistent underlying impulse to bring “Heaven to Earth” through collective imagination.
This session moves beyond facts to explore the core concepts shaping civilization. Professor Jiang challenges the myths taught in standard schooling—that we are inherently materialistic or linearly advancing in intelligence. Instead, he argues that monumental human achievement is fueled by massive, spiritually driven organizational capacity rooted in a belief system powerful enough to supersede individual gain. Understanding this cultural foundation explains why we struggle to replicate historical engineering feats today.

He's responding to the comment section now 🤯🤯🤯 Professor Jiang, you are THE GOAT!!! 🐐
Its funny how in school during breaks we'd all dread going back whereas now i was counting down the days until your school's break was over and you'd start uploading lectures again.
The Professor is the utopia of the internet. He makes us hungry to learn. i would rather listen to his lectures all day than anything else.
"Chat GPT? GIVE ME A BREAK!" 😂I love this guy
My mental health has improved because of you and I’m thankful
Dismantling every corner of the mainstream narratives one lecture at a time❤ don't always agree with the prof but admire his courage and predisposition
Professor is interacting with us also!!!! He genuinely wants to incorporate everyone into his class!!!❤❤❤
I had a history teacher like this in the 90s and his class was the only one I enjoyed. He taught me about history being fabricated long before internet was available like it is now. It was impressive to think he did research the old fashioned way by seeking out old books and asking questions. Kudos to people like this the world needs them.
13:30 "If I put you in the ocean you will die" cold :DDD
Us forgetting Humans' role is to maintain harmony in the world is one of the greatest tragedy that will ultimately kill us
