Most Portuguese say that the best piri piri chicken is from southern Portugal where it originates. But you’ll find it everywhere in the country and everywhere has a different style. So we’re starting the north and working our way down to the south for the best piri piri chicken tour across Portugal! This place does it extremely well, and it’s juicy and full of flavor. I’m not going to argue, it was one of the best grilled chickens I’ve ever had - the chicken was small and crispy, and so flavorful. With the chili oil, it made it even better. The restaurant is huge, and people flock here just to eat grilled chicken. It’s also very popular and I wanted to taste it to get some comparison. Churrasqueira O Recife, Faro (https://maps.app.goo.gl/B3z1yobX2krGyjSq9) - Finally, just down the coast is Churrasqueira O Recife where they’ve been grilling chicken unchanged for decades. The texture and doneness of the chicken is perfect, absolutely amazing. Piri piri chicken was an incredible history and to this day it’s one of the most famous Portuguese foods that you’ll find around the world.
