This conversation hit me differently. The idea that our epistemological crisis traces back to how we handled quantum mechanics — not politics — is something I've been chewing on for months. If the foundation of 'what is real' got corrupted at the physics level, then every downstream institution (media, academia, even AI alignment ) is building on sand. James articulates something most people feel but can't name. Incredible episode.
I'm biased, but this is your best discussion so far.
Thank you guys , the world is better place with you guys doing what you do....keep it up
10:33 Hell Yea ! I'm a very new fan, and I've been watching as many back episodes of Paradigm Shift as possible. I watch your contributors/guests reactions : pure gold. I love even more the genuine, caring, professional ways you let people down !😊
oh the glasses are divine
Out of these roots now grows a vibrant new shoot of the Tree of Knowledge: 1:44:43 ...that's the world I would like to see. That's the science of the future is people who have mutually intelligible ideas that can share them and transport them into each other's heads and then actually triangulate where the truth lies between those. And perhaps that requires more experimentation & maybe even more mathematics at some point. ... we're not anti-math. We're anti-math disconnected from entities and cause and effect relationships." Thanks to DemystifySci & Inductica for tending the tree with such love.
I hope they soon invent a time machine so that I can find the time to watch all these marvellous DemystifySci episodes.
5:07 into the video . Agreed .
The discourse at around 23 minutes is so interesting. Saying that Hume capitalized on an easily refuted idea by Descartes, is a form of the straw man fallacy. This doesn’t mean Hume relied solely on this tactic, but if relied heavily on his refutation of Descartes, it seriously weakens his point of view overall. Not to digress, but this discussion is so amazing because it really does seem that our understanding of physics truly does affect our daily life from politics to literature. Excellent conversation !!!!!!
