Dr. O'Dowd's explanation of how he became the host of PBS Space Time: "My lightsaber duel with Gabe allowed Gabe to move on to a better place, giving me control of all of Space Time"

Matt is just awesome, Space Time just wouldn't be the same without him

Really cool to see how you’ve grown as host. Gabe talked fast but his charisma and explanation are legendary. Really curious what he does today. Happy we found a worthy successor. Well done and thanks for the fantastic journey so far.

That one person who disliked this immediately after Matt uploaded this livestream is a string theorist.

Thank you, Matt. I didn't catch this live, but I'm so happy to listen to this. I could listen to you answer questions all day long. Keep up the good work.

I actually watched all of Matts videos because my brother studies physics and as far as I can tell the earliest videos were good, they just didn‘t have much of a personality yet. Even after rewatching them a couple years later I still think they are great.

I really liked it! I enjoy seeing people thinking in real time about their script. Sometimes I wish I could see the diagrams you are going through in your mind during the pauses. I like the contrast with the last AMA. The previous was more like a cool urbanite from NY with cool flat, cool drink, cool girlfriend, cool DIY concrete table, which by the way I was much hoping to see today. I also thought your girlfriend may, but since the last joke is quite similar to the free will one, it felt like she helped you to write it ;) And this AMA is more like ivory tower genius, who just took the first break in 5 years. And thanks for recommending The Road to Reality. I LoVe every bit of it, and I also like how Penrose talks, scripts concepts. It's amazing how reading feels so so close to listening to him live. Wild guess. That white hair is partly but importantly enough due to thinking too much about others, about helping them, and not enough on yourself. Like when you surely have a super packed schedule and still slip in so many hours to record science videos for the public, 'because as an astronomer, I follow Sagan, and want to bring space to the people'. Matt, you are the f best, thank you for everything <3

Dr. O'Dowd, you did something in this video that I've never seen done in any of my science education, which is admittedly not much since I'm not good enough with math to get very far into science at all. You actually gave an answer to "How does this happen?" on a subject. Every time I ever asked that of a teacher of mine in a science class, they either couldn't answer it at all or they simply tried to start explaining a scientific principle which wasn't a direct answer. Thank you!
