as a former addict, this dude is just replacing the feeling of drinking/using/gambling with the feeling of running around telling war stories and humble bragging. Its one of the things they warn you about in 12 step programs - im shocked none of the people in the rooms has called him out for it (or they have and he's ignoring it). You can still feel how manic and on edge he is.... good luck to him if the social networking thing falls apart, if it does i give him 48 hours. (Edit) - sorry if it came across like I'm hating on the guy.... I'm not. I'm actually worried for him. Maybe I didn't phrase it the best, but like I said, I've been around a looong time and I've seen a million ways that people fall back into habits (me included- hell, I'm not perfect. I do have some substantial time under my belt though, and I've seen a lot). Reliving war stories over and over is a well known danger sign, and if I didn't say something I wouldn't feel right....so take that however you want
Thanks for having me on brother!!!
I really hope this message finds the people who need to hear it. As a person who has/is raising men in this wild world, (23yo & 9yo) I’m shocked that so few parents are aware of the addiction crisis going on. The level of people who are struggling in silence is heartbreaking. Great and much needed conversation.
This guy makes the greatest point about gambling I've ever heard. Gambling is silent. You can't be a drug addict/ alcoholic without any signs. You can have just lost your life savings and no one knows a thing by looking at you
As someone who’s 37 years sober, it’s clear to me that this guy’s ego is the death of him. His sobriety is on thin ice if he doesn’t get some actual humility for real. The fact that he’s shitting on the principles of the AA program and going against several traditions, I have zero respect for this guy. He obviously has NOT worked the steps, doesn’t actually work a program, is completely full of himself. That all goes against the AA program. He’s in love with drama, money. I wouldn’t want what he has. Big story though.
Bringing up large amounts of money is never going impress people in the way someone hopes it will. It’s actually one of the easiest ways to spot someone who doesn’t feel secure within themselves, because what they’re actually doing is seeking external validation via “whoas/wows” from others.
the worst thing that can ever happen to someone is win on their first bet
I have seen people end up dead from both gambling and narcotics addiction way too often in my life, hearing anybody making a solid effort to fight those addictions deserves respect even if they fall off the wagon every few years. We're all human and the hardest part is getting back up on that wagon and trying again, better this time, and not giving up the fight. I wish all on this journey luck.
Holy crap! Good on you Julian!!! For saying no to the gambling ads! That's a man that stands for justice right there. Don't take that soul money.
I love this one! Hits home for me! My sister never had to deal with her consequences. And is no longer here. This was very healing for me in a way. Thank you both! 💜
