Trump CRACKDOWN HITS MILITARY FAMILY

Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down one of the most infuriating stories to come out of the Trump administration's immigration crackdown. Army Staff Sergeant Matthew Blank, 23, brought his newlywed wife Annie Ramos to Fort Polk in Louisiana to register for military spouse benefits and begin the green card process — and ICE detained her on the spot. Ramos is 22 years old, a college student studying biochemistry, a Sunday school teacher, and has no criminal record. She's been in the United States since she was a toddler. A deportation order was issued in 2005 when her family missed a hearing — she was less than two years old. She applied for DACA in 2020, but Trump's first administration had halted the program and her application was never processed. Last April, DHS eliminated the policy that treated military family ties as a mitigating factor in enforcement decisions. Brian and Shant walk through why ICE historically exercised discretion in cases exactly like this, why non-citizens still have due process rights under the Constitution, and how detaining the wife of a soldier preparing to deploy overseas doesn't make anyone safer — it just destroys a military family and undermines recruitment at a time of war.
