Description

I wish I had this tool 10 years ago! So much better than a Tap & Die set for many applications. Brands: Lang, Irwin Tap & Die, VEVOR, Gray Tools, CTA Tools, MAHOOMMAKH, YESHMA, AKM, and Orion. Thread chaser kits were compared for performance repairing damaged threads on Grade 5 and Grade 8 bolts. Additionally, the thread chasers were compared for performance and durability on rusty fasteners and bolts with JB Welded threads. Definitely, the most underrated tool ever made! I purchased all of the thread shaser kits to ensure an unbiased review. You applied rusting agent 3 times a day for 4 months? The commitment you have to these tests is admirable sir.

Finally a Made in USA product that performs well without a 'Snap-On' price tag.

Crazy that not only is there a clear winner but it's essentially the only brand tool that's even competent.

Lang tools makes the Thread restore kit for Snap-on and Mac. It's what I have been using for a very long time. A-lot of the tool truck tools are just rebranded from other tools.

I'm a retired mechanic and worked for 48 years turning wrenches. I still have some Hansen ( now Irwin) taps and dies that are decades old. Most of my replacement taps and dies came off tool trucks through the years and a lot of them through fleet hardware sales (Lawsen, Boman, Imperial). I have used chasers as well as taps and dies and those thread files have saved me many times. The one different thing with my practice is I ALWAYS use a light oil when chasing or cutting threads. That protects the cutting threads on the tool and helps prevent seizing. Chasing threads dry is asking for trouble. Breaking a tap in a hole is a mechanics nightmare.

If he had his own store, I know that everything I’d buy from him is the best.
