The highest level of American Football in Japan is the X-League, an amateur league consisting of true company teams and club teams sponsored by companies. The company league was founded in 1981; since 1996, it has been called the X-League. Imagine dedicating your whole life to something to getting your ass beat by a Mitsubishi engineer

Well as a U.S Marine I’m not surprised. Our camp/base teams (which also consist of each individual breach) plays the Japanese local teams yearly in Japan/Okinawa. So it helps them a lot when their league champions play the champions of our league as well. On top of that we have scrimmages before our seasons start, it’s a great cultural exchange filled with mutual respect and appreciation for the love of the game.
Don’t underestimate Japan. Japanese people are second to none in discipline and teamwork.
