This film was made with the help of the Leonora Carrington Estate and the invaluable support of her grandson Daniel Weisz. Please join their wonderful instagram page @leonoracarringtonestate - https://www.instagram.com/leonoracarringtonestate/?hl=en This is a film about magic. Leonora Carrington’s paintings are populated with mythical creatures, alchemy, folklore, fairy tales, the occult and human-animal hybrids. She was an artist who explored the limits of the imagination and was dedicated to free expression - especially when it meant breaking the rules. Her life story is extraordinary - but so is the art she created. A true visionary, Carrington produced some of the most remarkable paintings of the 20th Century, where beasts lurk behind every doorway, rituals unfold in dim-lit chambers, and women become cats, witches, and alchemists - architects of their own dark metamorphosis. Before I found this channel a couple of years ago, I didn’t really get art. But you’ve completely changed the way I see paintings - and in many ways, the way I see the world. Thank you for creating something so powerful. 🤝

Here in Mexico City, the Museum of Modern Art showcases her work almost every fall or the work of Remedios Varo. A couple of years ago they made some sort of fashion show where designers made garments inspired in Remedios' art. It was fantastic! I love those exhibitions and try to go every year. Thank you for the wonderful video.

Surrealism is not something I usually seek out, but I'm always willing to learn about art, especially when presented so well, thank you.

Thank you to publish about one of the biggest female artists. She has been a lesser recognized artist with the exception of Mexico. Where we love her and treasure her art and embrace her as one of ours. It’s time to the rest of the world to recognize her talent.

Once again i have had my perfect Saturday morning of a black coffee, some treats to dip into it, and a new episode of GAE to bring warm tears to my eyes. Your videos never fail to show me how beautiful and complex the world around us has always been.

Thank you for another wonderful film. I knew nothing about Leonora Carrington or the other women surrealists. Once again, GAE has opened another world to me!
