Eli, SO MANY Software Engineers DO NOT UNDERSTAND the basics of supply and demand. The entire professional working class does not understand this basic concept. I have been called dumb and stupid for talking about this basic principle, and saying to peeps that valued employees do not exist. Mind you, I am a Software Engineer. Job title are meaningless to me - the only job I have is to be financially secure.
I did tech work for 10 years, saved enough and opened my car garage...not going back. Tech is temporal.
IT has to be your hobby before it's your career in order to survive its rapid changes
Learn to ramen > learn to code.
When people tell me that they want to study IT (here in Germany), my usual reply is: »Because you sit in front of your PC all day anyway?« And the most common answer is, "yes".
"Supply more graduates to crater wages." YES... after the mass layoffs started 3 years ago in tech, i said something similar. Working in IT will become similar to working in the trades in regards to wages. Except for the standouts, those 6 figure salaries are going away. In a few more years, the blue collar wages will fall again because everyone under 25 had the SAME idea to become an electrician, plumber, mason, etc. Getting ahead is difficult, but staying ahead is even harder.
I'm here to hear Eli say the word: "Indahstreee" a dozen times. The channel never disappoints.
I always knew being a paleontology nerd would eventually pay off
