You CANNOT reason or negotiate with USA. They have NO honor or respect any 'rules'. Only deterrence is them knowing you will hurt them back. Notice how North Korea completely disappeared from face of the earth when they acquired nukes? Dr. Gilbert is correct regarding its about time the Russian leadership wake up. Putin definitely took a broken Russian nation and slowly healed its broken Soul and made it rise again. Whole of Russia owes him the honour to bring back the dignity but it’s about time he now takes a different approach with respect to America and the Europeans. He must look like a true strong Russian leader of the past and take the fight back to the Americans and the bloody Europeans. Sending the oil tanker to Cuba and then turning the oil tanker around after few days is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Cuba has always been there for Russia when they were the USSR and fought battles in Angola for the USSR. Russia letting the Cuban people is totally unacceptable and ultimately. Irrelevant that 4 million Russian Jews live in Israel but they took the choice to leave mother Russia and thus their dual nationality should be revoked and Russia should only consider helping Iran and making sure they don’t fail as a nation

I agree with Dr. Doctorow that Putin has weaken Russia's deterrence , his red lines were crisscrossed many times over and the west has concluded they can keep on escalating without any serious blowback , Russia can have as much more sophisticated missiles /weapons as any NATO country but if its enemies are convinced Putin does not have the guts to pull the trigger then Russia 's deterrence is greatly diminished !
