Heterogeneous 2. Sick and living on the edge 3. Metabolically inflexible 4. Originates from damaged mitochondria Chronic insulin resistance is one of the most significant contributors to cancer risk. Chronic insulin resistance leads to metabolic inflexibility. Cancer also migrates to areas of inflammation. Chronic microbiome disruption damages the microbes that protect the body against cancer. Chronic toxicity caused by alcohol, smoking, and pesticides can also increase the risk of cancer. When you combine these risk factors, you significantly increase your risk of developing cancer. Colon cells get their fuel from a compound called butyrate, which is produced when a microbe consumes fiber. Butyrate strengthens the colon's lining, supports its function, and has potent anti-inflammatory properties. Fiber has protective properties against cancer, but if your gut microbiome is compromised, it can make matters worse. The more advanced the cancer you have, the more you’ll need to do prolonged fasting. This stresses the cancer cells and deprives them of fuel. The fasting-mimicking diet is also beneficial. If you haven’t been diagnosed with cancer, periodic prolonged fasting can help with prevention. High doses of vitamin D3, sun exposure, and oxygen are also protective against cancer. A rotating diet is an incredible tool for cancer prevention. Focus on consuming key nutrients, including vitamin D3, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, polyphenols, turmeric, cruciferous vegetables, herbs, spices, green tea, and fermented vegetables. When I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, my mom and I were sitting in the colorectal surgeons office and she asked him if there was any special diet or foods to avoid. His exact answer was “no special diet, your body will tell you what bothers you and to eat 6 small meals a day”. Needless to say, I got worse and he got to do the surgery he gets paid to do. I suffered for two decades and became addicted to pain medicine and destroyed my life when all I had to do was change my diet and eat less frequently. I started doing the opposite of what the specialists told me and I feel better now in my 50s than in my 20s.

My God this is so true. My dad had stage 4 lymphoma. We changed his diet and cut out all sugar. They gave him 6 months to live after his chemo treatment. It's been 8 years and he is alive and healthy. The chemo did help you but cutting out the sugar is why he is alive. Changing his diet is why he is alive today.

Dear Dr. Berg, I have been following your videos for the past 10 years. About 4–5 years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer while I was breastfeeding. Despite 14 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and many strong medications (some of which felt even worse than chemo), I unfortunately developed brain metastases two years ago. I was devastated. But you truly helped save my life. I watched your interviews and videos about metabolic therapy and immediately started following your recommendations while researching further on my own. Today, I am cancer-free—despite the fact that two years ago doctors told me I had a maximum of three months to live. Thank you so much for everything you do.

I knew a guy in his forties who had been diagnosed with late stage colon cancer. He was preparing himself to die. Then, he decided to quit working so hard and researched diet and changed his.Years later, he believes his consumption of fermented foods healed him.
