Description

There's a common narrative right now that AI can't replace knowledge workers. That humans are special, irreplaceable, and that anyone moving to AI will regret it. I think this is wrong. And more importantly, I think it's dangerous. In this video I break down exactly why and how AI will replace most knowledge work — drawing on 25+ years of consulting inside hundreds of companies. I cover why most companies are already broken, why human thinking is far less reliable than we pretend, what the capability stack actually looks like, why the expertise gap is really an articulation gap, and why all of this is actually a good thing. This is the most important thing I've ever made on this topic. If you care about the future of work, watch this one. 📝 Full blog post with all diagrams and sources: https://danielmiessler.com/blog/exactly-why-and-how- ai-will-replace-knowledge-work 🔗 RELATED CONTENT - Companies Are Just a Graph of Algorithms: https://danielmiessler.com/blog/companies-graph-of-a lgorithms - Human 3.0: The Creator Revolution: https://danielm iessler.com/blog/human-3-creator-revolution - The Coming Future of Unemployable Humans: https://danielmiessler.com/blog/coming-future-unempl oyable-humans - AI's Predictable Path: 7 Components: https://danielmiessler.com/blog/ai-predictable-path- 7-components-2024 - Building a Personal AI Infrastructure (PAI): https://danielmiessler.com/blog/personal-ai-infrastr ucture - AI Isn't the Thing. Your breakdown of big organizations is so spot on. It drives me nuts

Thank you very much. You are a massive, positive, logical, and “spiritually aware?” force working toward a better life experience for all of us. I deeply appreciate your work and commitment. Hugs from Chile!

"did I let the dog out" got me laughing. I had to pause the video when he said "I am just as surprised about anything I say as you are" I was laughing so hard. Because it so true. I will add I listened to a psychologist talk about how studies show humans always fill in the blanks of memories (the video had nothing to do with AI) and rarely realize it... what does that sound like?

LLMs let me do the job of a small team, including innovate. It needs clear instructions/thinking. I'm afraid someone else will replace me the way i've replaced others.

Great content as allways. I asked in another video. Do you have a framework of mapping out processes for evaluation of which are good candidates for LLMs, deterministic automation, and human based? I think of a process map with different colors. Just didn't know if you are doing this or have an insight on a good method / framework / software. Thanks Daniel. You are really insightful. Keep doing what you're doing.

Completely agree with you Daniel. One day I got into a debate with my boss's boss over my suggestion for improving the current process (which is not documented properly anyway). To my surprise the big boss took an ofense and said that it was not my concern. I argued back, saying why not if it can be good for the company. He soon terminated my contract.
