Description

This video essay analyzes the psychology of Ryan Howard and how he proves to be one of the most manipulative characters in The Office (owned by NBC). Ryan is a classic millennial whose ambitions are larger than his capabilities. He takes shortcuts, commits fraud, mistreats his girlfriend and cycles through a series of identities to make him feel special. But he also creates sly psychological tricks to manipulate other characters in the series. If you want to understand how Ryan tries to manipulative everyone in the Office, watch this video until the end. Honestly, Ryan abandoning his kid and the kid was adopted and going overseas was probably for the best. Because Ryan and Kelly shouldn't be trusted with a pet rock much less a kid.

ryan is a pathologically narcissistic personality, that's not a specifically millennial trait. emotionally immature people come in all ages.

18:29 Ryan getting mad at not winning the “hottest in the office” award is one of my favorite things on the show 😅

The fact that Michael writes a boy him in his diary is one of the funniest things ever. “Just as hot as Jan but in a different way.” Like god Michael’s obsession with the man needs to be studied lol

Ryan's really only good at manipulating people when they're blinded by affection for him, which is why he's only really capable of manipulating Michael and Kelly. His schemes fall flat with pretty much everyone else because they can see what a creepy loser weasel he truly is (or ends up as), and to the extent he gets away with it it's because he's so pathetic and low on the totem pole that there's really nothing more that can be done with him.
