Josh - honest question. Dan Patrick reported that ACC reps spent 3 hours with the CFP committee on Saturday discussing UM/ND. Is that appropriate? Does the CFP committee invite suitors in to make the cases for their teams in person? Do they really need other people’s help?

I agree they were not robbed but they were definitely misled and I blame the committee wholeheartedly because they knew exactly what they were doing the Tuesday before when they dropped Notre Dame. They fully expected BYU to lose and that Miami was going to jump Notre Dame. There are so many issues with the current playoff system and guaranteeing certain spots where they shouldn't be guaranteed

I don’t think Pete minded the ACC pushing Miami as much as they made it also against Notre Dame. Perhaps he mostly pissed how the ACC could so incredibly botch tiebreaker process. If game is 1st place UVA vs highest ranked ( Miami) then ND is in. Has to be thinking about Jim Phillips “ how could you be so stupid?”

I’m not a Notre Dame fan and I disagree. Their 2 losses came early against playoff teams. It’s not between ND and Miami. ND should be ahead of Tulane if we’re comparing their 2 losses. That’s not subjective, that’s straight up.

I like that you separated out that the committee's releases and explanations pissed off millions through causing confusion and counter-productive fighting (debate and smack talk are totally different). The easy solution for the CFP is to release once, maybe explain it, then disappear back into their deep dark lairs. Over a month ago in week 10's "ranking": TAM was 3. Played a lot of good football in a respectful conference. Lost to a pretty good rival in Austin. Now they're 7. #4 Alabama had a bye wrapped in a bow already under the tree. BYU was 7. To this day has only ever lost to #4 TTU. Notre Dame was 10 and kicked the ever living $hit out of every team they played since. #13 Utah already had 2 losses but hasn't lost since. That isn't how sausage is made. This is how sausage gets embezzled, and the bozo(s) responsible cover it up. Does transparency help when the committee is mostly bozos? I say maybe. Maybe it would have been worse if they hadn't gotten public feedback every week. It's still the best it's ever been. Over half the changes that I have heard proposed, would make it painfully worse. I hope we keep the best parts.
