My favorite story about Andre on set was when they were shooting a scene and it was his line, he just stood there silently. Rob Reiner asked him if he was okay to which Andre let out a long loud fart that lasted nearly a minute then said "I am now Boss".
I saw this as a little kid, multiple times. No one in my elementary, junior high, or high school ever referenced it. I figured it wasn't popular. Then I went to college and heard people say stuff like "Inconceivable!" and "Hello." like Wallace and Mandy would. It felt like I finally found my geeky people.
MT?!?!?!!! The breakdown I didn’t know I needed. “As you wish.” Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Thanks for checking out the video guys. Hope you enjoy it.
Couple of my fave trivia bits that didn't make the cut: 1) it was very chilly for a lot of the exterior scenes, so to help Robin Wright keep warm, André would place one of his gigantic hands on her head like a body-heat temperature hat 2) Mandy Patinkin lost his father to cancer either during, or shortly prior to filming. For inspiration during his final showdown, he imagined that he was duelling and defeating his father's cancer and broke down crying after the final stab 3) during the ROUS wrestling match, the filming for that scene got delayed and pushed back so often that the stunt actor who was in the ROUS suit decided to hit up the pub. He ended up getting drunk enough that he got hauled to the drunk tank for the night. The next morning they finally were ready to start filming, but the stunt actor was nowhere to be found. While they waited for him to eventually be released and travel back to set, they filmed as much as they could with just the empty suit
My daughter was in a play of The Princess Bride and played Count Rugen. Cant wait to watch this breakdown with her!🥰
This one still holds up today. I watched with my kids a while back and they loved it!
This movie feels like it was a book on screen I love the extreme acting and the names and the characters are all outrageous this makes me love it more
Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya)'s snippet regarding the Cliffs of Insanity climb with how André comforted and helped to calm down Wallace Shawn (Vizzini) made me tear up; André was such a gem; I'm so glad he will forever be a part of this incredible movie that means so much to so many ❤
I kind of want them to remake it in the manner I saw suggested online some years ago. Remake only the scenes with Peter Falk and Fred Savage, with Fred Savage reading the story to a sick child, while the rest of the movie is just the original footage again lol.
