1) the largest slum lord in NYC is the city of NYC. their publicly owned housing division went bankrupt before covid and is over 1 billion behind on repairs. 2) city of NYC: we have a budget shortfall! we need to raise property taxes! 3) city of NYC: we are freezing rents so landlords cannot charge more to cover increasing costs. 4) if we dont get enough money from landlords, we will take their building from them. if they dont repair their buildings, we will take their building from them. someone needs to sue the city/state of new york under the takings clause and possibly rico corruption charges.

Step 1 of communism, take the private property. As for when it expires and having a huge % of rent jump, that's the next election's platform. "Vote for us again or your evil landlord will jack up your rent."

Ultimately, the goal is to confiscate more and more properties and trap the citizens into perpetual renting and subscriptions. You will own nothing.
