Nobody Cares About This but I'm Reviewing it Anyway
Vicious Movie Review: A Predictable Journey Through Jump Scares
Analyze why this Dakota Fanning horror vehicle fails to deliver tension, revealing how its complete reliance on cheap scares results in a flat, disappointing cinematic experience.
Short Summary
- The film employs the Haunted Box trope but substitutes narrative development entirely with gratuitous, poorly paced jump scares.
- Dakota Fanning's acting effort is commendable, yet it cannot save the weak writing or the monotonous, one-note structure.
- The underlying message about overcoming cycles of self-sabotage is present but completely obscured by formulaic horror cliches.
This review unpacks Vicious, a recent streaming release starring Dakota Fanning, detailing the plot mechanics, specific moments of creative potential, and the ultimate reason why the movie feels like a profound waste of time despite noticeable production investment.

It's the hit voice actor from Dispatch!
Hey it’s the guy from Hunger Games and Dispatch
0:44 who's gonna tell him halo was on paramount plus.
Hearing "Peacock" was scary enough. Don’t need any more horror this Halloween.
funny story; one of my clients was an extra as a ghost in this movie, and when i asked what movie, she couldn't remember the name
THE WHITE SHIRT IS BACKKKK !!
Fun fact: I wrote a scathing review for this movie on Amazon. It got deleted. I leave reviews for movies often. Amazon deletes the overly negative ones most of the time. No curse words, no nothing - I just say "it's bad" in a few paragraphs and poof, gone.
Fun Fact: Dakota Fanning voiced Coraline... just wanted to point that out.
Why do reviews of niche horror films always sound like a 10 year old telling you about the dream they had last night?
Theres a guy who holds the record for being the most dead bodies in shows and movies. He's been on Law and Order so many times and never once has he ever been alive in anything. Not even flashbacks or anything he's just always found dead.
