Albert Blithe didn't attend the reunions so the surviving members of the 501st thought he had died. He served in Korea and died in '67
It's funny you mentioning Dexter Fletcher being a British actor because about half the entire cast is actually British
Bull Randleman had 2 bayonet fights. The first one isn't shown in the series but it happened right after parachuting into Normandy. They left it out because it was too unbelievable that it would happen more than once.
Nixon taking a bullet to the helmet was the most heart-stopping moment so far imo
Per the question in episode 3: E company is always exposed because they are the assault company of the battalion. Their training included how to be the bleeding edge of the action. Also “Easy 6, Easy Red 6” is callsigns. The company had 3 platoons, callsigns Red White and Blue. 6 is commander/leader, so Winters is Easy 6. Welsh is radioing in as Easy Red 6, because he was first platoon leader.
The segments at the beginning with the real guys are from a documentary called "We Stand Alone, Together" that came out as like a companion to the series. Highly recommend.
Blithe was not lying, he was a typical case of Hysterical Blindness after Carentan. Stress, high adrenaline spikes, fear, all risk factors. Back in the day these things were unknown, like PTSD was called Shellshock. There are records from WW1 and 2 of soldiers with symptoms so severe that they fought, bite and hit their doctors when confronted with sound triggers, smells or even bright ligths.
Band of Brothers cost $125 million in the year 2000. So about $230 million today
"Sir, I didn't want to let anyone down." Neatly sums up the attitude of the Greatest Generation. Currahee!
