I find it funny Sam Altman was always so smug about how nobody could catch up to them. They continue to be underwhelming now.
Given that Microsoft's OpenAI investments were primarily compute infrastructure and serving OpenAI's models on Azure, it makes sense that they're not tied down too strictly to the relationship.
Sure is odd how as soon as OpenAI went ClosedAI their progress slowed down and everyone else seemed to have caught uo
defining AGI based on a profit number is insane
AI explained is Goated
There are so many examples in history where having all the ingredients doesn’t always result in a cake. Execution, brand, trust, existing install base, distribution, partnerships etc all change the landscape. I think it’s not a bad model to equate these organisations by the core needs of an AI tech company but I’d argue it’s also slightly simplistic and assumes a winner takes all market which is unlikely based on the amount of capital being invested by many parties.
11:18 Microsoft has the software (M365), the platform, the data, the money, and the hardware (Microsoft makes their own chip, YES), just like you said the science part is about to get cracked. They're well positioned as Google.
200 bucks a month is still crazy man, they behaving like they have the whole market
AI Explained mentioned! His videos are great, highly recommend as well.
