Finding ghost pipe during my childhood in Pennsylvania was absolutely surreal. I picked the weird "flower" and wanted to bring it home to my mother. Before I could, though, it turned black and wilted (I thought, due to sunlight) within such short time that I truly thought I found a vampire flower. That was truer than I realized but for completely different reasons! Glad to see you covering it!
It was originally placed in the Fungi kingdom but there wasn't mushroom. Thanks Anton
Plant forgot how to plant.
No natural means of sustaining itself, parasitic, and fakes being something it's not. It must be a politician. Even the plant world has them. ☹️
Anton, the Bob Ross of Science. 😁
It looks very happy.
Tis the season... Mistletoe is a hemiparasitic (semi-parasitic) plant. Grows high up on trees and leeches water from it, but it *does* photosynthesize.
convergent evolution is insane, man
It’s almost an immobile herbivore
if it was bigger it would look like the kind of plant you find in alien worlds in videogames
