At University professors told us that Wikipedia is a terrible source but it's a very good source to check for other sources.

I'm shocked that youtube didn't put up a wiki banner that says" we have investigated ourselves and have determined we are correct in all things"

Most articles on Wikipedia are accurate and based on reliable credible sources. However, it cannot be ignored that in many articles about history, politics, etc., propaganda is made with the cherrypicking method.

Wikipedia is very good for general research as long as its unrelated to politics, then its biased as hell. Edit: To clarify, By 'things related to politics' I don't just mean things related to elections and politicans, I'm also talking about everything from climate change to history which is being altered or exaggerated to push a narrative. It has decent information on things like my profile picture for example because it's just a painting.

I’m from France and from Primary school until College we were always told that Wikipedia isn’t fully accurate and I never thought to believe so until a few months ago when realizing how Wikipedia content can be so easily manipulated and changed and how the Wikipedia hierarchy works.

Like all projects that get touched by any ideological nerd, Wikipedia was also a victim.

Our teacher taught us about an non existing country (but talked about it like it was real), we laughed him off like he was crazy and he showed us a wikipedia page about it. We all shut up and apologized. After that he laughed us off because the country of course didnt exist. Somebody just faked a whole country with flag, symbols, government... And got it published for a long time. From that point on I havent used wiki for factual information, only the sources it listed. Idk how it got so much good reputation and how everybody uses it without questioning. If a totally non existing country can be published for months/years on wikipedia without getting deleted or updated, imagine how much smaller fake info there can be without anyone questioning it at all.

We now use the word "Google" the same way we use the words "Kleenex" and "Xerox." The difference is that tissues and copiers are not trying to manage the way you think.
