Samsung is doing great work lately. Google needs to continue pushing for tablet support from developers.
I think the voting with one's wallet thing is spot on. People will rave about Samsung tablets but then not buy them because they prefer just using their regular PC over a tablet.
I have a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, and people will just stare at it and ask me what it is. They are stunning, but I do agree, most people aren't willing to fork out that much money for it if they don't have a specific use-case. I got mine because I'm a digital artist, and I absolutely love it.
I just love that tablets are still being made. There was a time there when Apple didn't seem to have this much competition in this space.
The tablet being waterproof is actually a very good selling point for many people who own boats. Most people I know who are looking for gigantic tablets wants them for navigation at sea since it's more user friendly and less expensive than a dedicated navigation system (and I know waterproof doesn't necessarily mean salt water proof, but it's still better than a tablet that isn't waterproof)
Got my S9 Ultra yesterday. Honestly, I don't know if I've ever been as blown away by a device before. It's absurdly thin, I was astonished. The screen is beautiful, too. Can't wait to really see what its capable of.
I have a Tab S8 and love it a lot. It's a brilliant 5G device that can last a lot longer on battery than most laptops. Sincerely hoping Samsung won't kill off their flagship tablets lineup anytime soon.
Ok, 3-month update: I friggin LOVE this tablet! I use it for literally everything. I haven't touched my computer in a solid month. I couldn't have picked a better piece of kit, for me. One caveat: video editing is possible, but you don't have the same options as iPad. This is more of an app problem, but worth mentioning. I use Luma Fusion, so I get along just fine, but the app companies need to step it up.
I just upgraded from the Tab S6 Lite to the Tab S9+, because I take all my university notes on a tablet AND WOW. The speed and gorgeousness of the S9+! In addition, for me I'm actually hooked into Samsung's ecosystem at the this point, Quick Share, Samsung Notes, DEX, Second Screen (which lets you use it as a Windows monitor), and all the multiwindow optimisations. Samsung has been working hard to make an ecosystem that is more open than Apple's but matched in convenience. (Obviously they aren't quite as polished yet, but the features are already there)
There is no way the majority of people are choosing iPad over this beast! Samsung has been the number one seller of electronics in every category worldwide for two decades for very good reason: they're simply the best!
