I agree with Lauren's prediction on the "touch grass populism", I've already started going back to more analog means of entertainment (books, cd's, DVDs, records, board games, etc.) as companies stop producing physical media to encourage more subscriptions to media you do not own, can not copy, or are not allowed to save, modify, or repair. We're the frog boiling and not noticing how many things that were in our control/possession that are now monetized in an anti-consumer way. Remember when your computer had a disc drive, let alone one that could read/write to? Remember when your car could be relatively easily repaired, work just fine without proprietary software, or a connection to the internet? When every second of your attention wasn't tracked and monetized? When you didn't need a phone? Certifications used to last a lifetime, now they are becoming annual. Anyway, thank you for attending my Old Man Rant TED talk.
