Looking for the best used hybrid that won't break the bank? We pit a used Toyota Prius, Honda Insight, and Kia Niro against each other to find the ultimate affordable hybrids under $20k. Toyota Prius Edmunds Review - https://www.edmunds.com/toyota/prius/2021/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube Honda Insight Edmunds Review - https://www.edmunds.com/honda/insight/2021/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube Kia Niro Edmunds Review - https://www.edmunds.com/kia/niro/2021/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube More Edmunds Comparison Videos - https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsSQoIGhBLpQwAPiW1fCPh4LEWxlbp9Cx&si=txPMgUEIULWxATGq Appraisal Tool - https://www.edmunds.com/appraisal/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube Car Listings - https://www.edmunds.com/new-cars-for-sale/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube Ratings and Reviews - https://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube 00:00 Intro 00:51 Toyota Prius Interior, Tech, & Storage 04:44 Toyota Prius Driving Impressions 07:23 Honda Insight Interior, Tech, & Storage 10:29 Honda Insight Driving Impressions 12:52 Kia Niro Interior, Tech, & Storage 16:14 Kia Niro Driving Impressions 17:30 Value, Recalls & Reliability 21:45 Edmunds' Take Shopping for affordable hybrids can be tough, but if you want to spend around $20,000, you have some great options on the used market. In this video, we put three popular cheap hybrids to the test to help you find the best used hybrid for your budget and lifestyle. We examine their real-world fuel economy, interior features, and how they hold up over time. The 2021 Toyota Prius stands out as the efficiency champion, delivering stellar MPG and massive hatchback cargo space. While the price of a used Toyota Prius stays higher than others due to its legendary value retention, it remains an incredibly practical choice. The downside? A sluggish zero-to-60 time and a quirky brake pedal feel. On the other hand, the 2021 Honda Insight is the driver's choice, offering the best on-road performance, strong brakes, and a more premium interior. Our used Honda Insight review reveals it drives like a more expensive vehicle, though its traditional sedan trunk limits overall cargo flexibility. Finally, the 2021 Kia Niro is the absolute value leader. A used Kia Niro's price will be thousands lower than the others, plus it has the roomiest backseat and seats that fold flat for moving bigger items. However, it suffers from a plasticky cabin and the highest projected depreciation rate. So, what's our verdict? If you want maximum driving enjoyment, pick the Insight. If you need ultimate utility on a budget, the Niro wins. But for the ultimate blend of long-term value, excellent fuel economy, and bulletproof reliability, the Prius takes the crown. This review covers the first generation Kia Niro from 2017-2022, the fourth generation Toyota Prius from 2016-2022, and the third generation Honda Insight from 2019-2022. These three cars are excellent options if you want to save money at the pump and not spend a lot of money doing so. Which of these lightly electrified options appeals the most to you – the fuel-sipping Prius, the refined Insight, or the budget-friendly Niro? Let us know in the comments below!

I have a 2022 Insight EX with 41k miles. No problems at all. Drives well and I typically average 50 MPG. When I fuel up I usually don't have to put in more than 8 gallons. Highly recommend it as a daily commuter.

Have had a ‘17 Prius since new. Has had absolutely no problemas whatsoever; only services and consumables (tires, one 12V battery, windshield wipers). Nothing creeks, nothing has broken, still the best daily I have ever owned. Planning on driving it ‘till the wheels fall off (if that is even possible).

I think we all know the internet answer is the Prius. I've seen many for sale with well over 200k+ miles on the original battery.

New car niche buyers like to watch your comparisons after comparisons before they buy. It's the mass market buyers that can't afford $50,000 car that LOVE this comparison.

I would definitely have the insight out of these three. For your next thing to cover, how about cars for the AutoX? I'm thinking of a miata, civic Si, and base Camaro.

I had a 2019 Niro PHEV & a 2023 Niro HEV. Both were comfortable, performed well exceeding EPA estimates, and were trouble free except for a couple minor issues covered under warranty. I'm sold on the Korean HEVs & am currently very happy with my 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV with 51K trouble free miles.
