I didn't watch anything, but the trial. I didn't follow anything on social media and I didn't read about the case in any other media. I just watched the trial, and I completely see why the jury came to the decision they did.
Badass Camille made partner at her firm!!! Never has a huge promotion been so deserved!! 👏👏👏
I was really disappointed in the NYT the daily podcast yesterday. They painted the trial as the back lash of me too and how abusers now will sue their victims bc depp painted a new path of victory. But they didn’t truly acknowledging ambers lying/inconsistencies and the abuse she caused. I watched the whole trial, and to me it was about how it’s ok for men to announce that they can be a victim of domestic violence too. The podcast felt like they were implying the movement was just for women without opening the door for men as well. I think this was a huge win for the movement and it frustrates me that it felt like they were twisting it. Because me too should be open to any and all victims
I love how they demonized Johnny's drug use, forgetting Amber does the same thing? 10k a month on wine alone? Doing drugs with johnny and infront of johnny when he's trying to recover??? Make it make sense...
Elaine and Amber's team kept saying "we won" in the UK, "they" didn't win anything since Amber Heard was not a party to the litigation. They are relying on insinuendo rather than facts. The fact is that Amber literally admitted to physically abusing JD, her words were documentation of verbal abuse of JD, and we can only guess what the emotional abuse was since emo isn't based solely on words or litigation but demeaning one's person, reason for being, ambitions, etc. I felt extremely sad for JD and very little for AH since she didn't seem to care what was said or how it sounded. I do not think JD is an angel ... far from it, but I can't help but feel AH is the abuser and used her sexuality to continue to abuse him (this from the conversation documented in SF when it sounds like she tried to seduce him which he stringently rejected when he admonished her for trying to remove his glasses ... "you will never see my eyes again....")
I find it fascinating Johnny Depp is a man who faced abuse, who spoke out for the truth, willing to admit his faults as a not so “perfect victim”, and helped millions of other men and women speak out on their abuse and get justice. So many people, especially men who just sat in silence for years, felt validated by the verdict, women who face abused and weren’t believe felt heard by the verdict. Yet Amber and team call him a “setback for victims.”
When I served on a jury duty DV case not a peep from me to my husband about what went down in court nor did I go on social media . It wasn’t that difficult to follow the rules during the trial! It was a relief when we could final talk about it all reaching a verdict. Not classy for Elaine to undermine the jury.
I agree that JD was demonized for his addiction the entire time, it was actually getting quite old for me, whereas team Depp Kept calling her out for her inaccuracies and flighty responses- pretty much saying she’s lying, I don’t think that’s demonizing, that seems like normal court behavior when being cross examined or presenting your case, constantly berating and making fun of a man for his drinking and substance abuse? That’s demonizing.
Emily is so good at covering cases. She single handedly has done better than MSM
She wasn’t demonized. She was confronted with her own actions and finally held accountable.
