Jim Breuer on Aging Pains, Solitary Wiffle Ball Injuries, and Doctor Calls

Learn how the reality of turning 58 hits hard through painful muscle tears and frustrating interactions with slower Midwesterners. Readers gain relatable comedic insights into the unexpected physical limitations of aging.

Short Summary

  • Physical vulnerability arrives unexpectedly, even for those who believe they are fit (calf tear at 57).
  • Attempts to reconnect with youth (solitary whiffle ball) can lead to immediate, painful, and embarrassing setbacks.
  • Self-awareness regarding judgment during tense societal discussions conflicts with internal thoughts during physical distress.

This segment details comedian Jim Breuer’s physical realizations about turning 58, punctuated by a bizarre injury sustained while playing whiffle ball alone and recounting the event to his doctor.

I know i'm getting old because the best part of my day is taking a nap. I stop giving a shit about what people think. I started talking to myself because I'm the best conversation in the room. The best part of my day is, by the grace of God i'm one day closer to the kingdom of heaven 🙏

I’m 57. A bunch of friends were out hiking, one of the wives said “do you guys remember how to skip”….? I pushed off to start skipping, and tore the tendons in my right heel….. Jim is spot on kids….!! Sh*T is real…..😂

One of the worst parts of getting old... being in pain 24/7, especially in the morning.

I had that ass pain too, probably 10 years ago when I was 58. You have no idea what's on your horizon. I pulled a muscle laughing at your stories, now I got to take a HOT shower to loosen up. 😁

The worst part of getting older is watching your parents getting older and knowing you will never be ready for what's coming...

My dad would always say... Youth is wasted on the young. How true that is.
