Ignoring the 10 years of debugging, troubleshooting, deploying, etc. is very shortsighted. Sure, that person's experience in that blackberry code is wasted, but the person inevitably learned and honed useful skills that they will need on the next project.

I was in the position to find devs to help on a project a couple times. It's hard to describe the value of connections to people you trust being very important. It didn't personally hit me until I had to do it myself. There are so many people out there who are just trying to milk your company of money before being fired and moving on to another employer. It really complicates the process and takes time that the company doesn't always have for you to take.
