There's a smart way to approach global mobility and build real optionality instead of relying on a single residency or country. I stayed only 1 year in the UK and couldn't wait to get out. It's so depressing.....

Do not put everything in one basket.

I still plan on booking my holiday in Duba in May or June. I feel safer in Dubai than than the major cities in the US where I live. I'm not rich enough to worry about taxes. I just optimize my lifestyle. I go to my favorite retreat in Dubai every year. I'm glad that some major airlines still serve Dubai. I still have friends staying in Dubai. Maybe if I were rich, I'd pick up a fire-sale mansion property. I'm not there, yet. I don't care. I just like the environment where I am respected and I like the lifestyle. But yeah, I don't put all my eggs in one basket in Dubai.

I lived in Abu Dhabi many years ago. The current events were very easy to foresee. How few people understand the region.

A great share in this one. “You want to choose a base and not a refuge” a great insight. I’d like to see more content from your friends who do “world school” or “home school”. Thanks Andrew. Much appreciated.

Commonsense (in short supply) dictates that following this advise from Andrew is essential. Don't get caught in the visa vice.
