We bailed out the banks when they should have failed and been restructured. We bailed out the airlines only to have them layoff pilots anyway.

"Oh, that 2003 law was post-9/11, obviously written for emergencies, not for overhauling our lives in the long-term" Um... so can we talk about the PATRIOT Act?

Take the money out of universities' endowments to finance 100% of the student loan debt, the schools are the ones who made profits off this. The endowments are currently not being used, so use them to fix the problem. The average American taxpayers had nothing to do with this, they are just innocent bystanders.

I’ve got my own opinions on this, but I gotta say I appreciate the hell out of Jeff Stein’s reporting. Glad he’s back and cannot wait to see him again.

As long as one or both of the parties actually fix the problem of the loan system itself it’s all good. FIX the actual issue.

why do they want to stop at $10,000 in student debt, why don't they just forgive $10,000 worth of debt for everyone that doesn't make over $125,000 a year? if having the debt is what is hurting people why are they just helping students out, wouldn't it better to help everyone?

Cancelling student debt is like putting a bandaid on a broken leg.
