What are the top 5 must eat foods when you’re in Auckland, New Zealand? Thank you to my friend Christian Kasper for helping to arrange this tour today! We had a lot of fun, met incredible people, and enjoyed delicious food in New Zealand - and still lots more to come. Muzza's Pies (https://maps.app.goo.gl/GFbhbPe4Knw17LqdA) - We’re starting off with pies, not just any pies, but some of the best New Zealand savory pies you can eat. Christian and I tried five of them, and they are outstanding, but the steak and cheese was a highlight. Price - 6 - 8 NZD ($3.59 - $4.78 USD) per pie Tipene's Fish And Chips Takeaways (https://maps.app.goo.gl/3HFokEVWTEm4eFeg7) Fish and chips is a staple in New Zealand, and Tipene's Fish And Chips Takeaways was on Auckland’s iconic eats list for serving one of the best versions in Auckland. Price - About 10 NZD ($5.98 USD) per plate Giapo (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ta8DVXJPZz9gZxvT8) - You can’t come to New Zealand without trying hokey pokey ice cream, the national flavor. Giapo has taken ice cream to extreme levels, and his hokey pokey ice cream is one of the best. Price - About 10 NZD ($5.98 USD) per person Tony's Original Steak & Seafood Restaurant (https://maps.app.goo.gl/GrDeHJZGFWUa8XNp7) - You definitely know about New Zealand lamb, it’s one of the most famous lambs in the world, so when I was in Auckland I had to search for a delicious lamb shank at one of the oldest restaurants in Aucilan. Price - $89 NZD ($53.22 USD) for everything The White Lady (https://maps.app.goo.gl/1iXX9p7MHBXPAbA36) - If there’s one institution in Auciland that everybody knows about and everyone from all walks of life has eaten at, it’s got to be The White Lady. I ordered the Old Skool Egg burger, also called the Kiwi Burger. Price - $16.50 NZD ($9.86 USD) Chapters: 0:00 Intro 0:59 Muzza's Pies 6:01 Steak and Cheese Pie 11:46 Tipene's Fish And Chips Takeaways 15:13 Fish and Chips 22:37 Giapo Ice Cream Auckland 24:21 Hokey Pokey Ice Cream 22:39 Mark Abroad for More Food Videos! 29:12 Tony's Original Steak & Seafood Restaurant 34:08 New Zealand Lamb Shank 37:39 The White Lady 41:15 Kiwi Burger 44:46 Ending Follow on Social Media: ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/markwiensfoodvideos ►Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/migrationology/ ►Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@markwiens 👕 T-shirts: https://store.migrationology.com/ 🌶 Ghost Chili: https://amzn.to/3PNTvNQ 🎥 Camera gear I use: https://amzn.to/3FVdBUd (some of these are affiliate links and I will make a small commission from any sales)

I used to live across the road from Tipenes. I'd wander over, get a box of fish and chips, bring it home and watch Mark's videos while I ate it. Now I'm living in a different country watching Mark eating Tipenes across the road from my old house..! Struggling to wrap my brain around this one! :D

The P part of the drink L&P (Lemon and Paeroa) refers to the MINERAL WATER used to make the Lemonade, not the region where the lemons are grown, though they might come from there. It's a true taste of New Zealand.

Australian here - that Kiwi burger with beetroot looks absolutely amazing! i'm a massive fan of a proper Aussie burger with the lot (beef, lettuce, cheese, PINEAPPLE, beetroot, bacon, onions, tomato sauce - always best made at a suburban Greek fish n chip shop, in my humble opinion), but the butter, relish, heaps of crispy lettuce, egg technique & messy-juiciness of this is something else. i'm gonna make this at home asap. thanks Mark, and kia ora to our Kiwi neighbours!

I loved how the Tipene's Fish and Chip shop cooked the chips separately - that way the chips are not undercooked and the fish is not overcooked. Using a spray bottle for the vinegar is brilliant! The price is a bargain!

I learnt the other day that the Maori word for sweet potato, "kumara" is also used in tribal areas of Chile as the word for sweet potato. It's derived from the Quechua word k'umara, which is strikingly similar to the Polynesian kūmara. This linguistic similarity supports the theory of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact between Polynesian seafarers and indigenous South American cultures, evidenced by the presence of sweet potatoes in Polynesia before European arrival linking the two regions.
