High costs, tariffs hammering U.S. farmers
Generational Farming Crisis: Financial Ruin and Escalating Mental Health Emergencies
Discover the severe financial pressures—driven by stagnant commodity prices and rising input costs—that threaten multi-generational family farms, and learn about the resulting mental health crisis unfolding in rural communities.
Short Summary
- Farmers face the lowest profitability in decades, forcing multi-generation operators into debt and secondary employment.
- Trade disputes, specifically halted soybean exports to China, compound existing economic instability derived from tariffs.
- The severe, persistent stress directly contributes to an agricultural suicide rate three times higher than the national average.
This report investigates the interwoven crises facing American farmers after years of struggle. We examine how trade wars and inflation accelerate financial collapse and detail the critical, life-saving work being done by local mental health advocates in affected counties.

Farmer said orange criminal is making best deal for America. mind boggling and delusional.
The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe... for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that since his handle was made of wood... he was one of them
Who would have thought stupidity would be a problem?
I never thought the leopard would eat my face
Remember JD Vances little side job/company that buys distressed farms? They can't wait for the farms to go down.
The irony of these people calling Trump a "Smart man"...
You almost feel bad but then you hear them say “Trumps smart and they believe in him” They made their own beds
Industrial grade ignorance has a price tag
I grew up in farm country. I never understood why rural folks ever thought for one second that a man who grew up in a high-rise in New York city ever cared for or understood their problems or their way of life. Trump has never gone to a grocery store, cooked a meal for his family, picked fruit off of a tree. He needed their votes and once he got them, he pulled the rug out from them and laughed his way to the bank like the spoiled rich kid that he has always been and always will be.
What? They won. Winning!!
