Description

In 1983, 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer reported on the story of Lenell Geter, a young, successful engineer who was sentenced to life in prison for armed robbery. Safer and producer Suzanne St. Pierre, who died earlier this month at age 88, dug into the case and saved Geter's life. "60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10. Geter lives in South Carolina, he now dedicates his life to pre-trial programs for youthful defenders. Really nice guy

And this is exactly why people don’t trust police or DA’s!

These cops lie through their teeth and will never accept being wrong. Those areas had a reputation for bad law enforcement with biased reputation. I applaud 60 minutes and the late Mory Safer, one of the great journalist of the times. A man's life was restored. We should all be aware and mindful about the corrupt nature of law enforcement.

This is the most egregious miscarriage of justice I have ever heard of! They railroaded this man and then doubled down on their own stupidity and lies!

A random phone call about a car parked 3 miles from a robbery starts a chain of events which culminates in a life in prison conviction for an innocent man, all of these prosecutors and police were beyond incompetent. It’s like the Twilight Zone, scary!
