Genuinely one of the best conversations on where we’re at with Al I’ve heard in a while. πŸ™

Philip never runs out of smart things to say. I find it hard to believe that he doesn't know the questions in advance. Impressive insight as always.

I'm enjoying seeing that even these very accomplished programmers with insider perspectives find themselvea grappling with the same questions the rest of us are. IP law alone is currently a hugely challenging landscape.

I like that Steve had to push back on this employee of Open AI.

Fascinating conversation. This is probably some of the most insightful, honest and interesting discussions I've heard on this topic.

β€œnow the drunk uncle can just do it on his own” - i will say ive been thinking this because i have this experience 100x a year - but as SDEs i think we take for granted the environment to develop apps and distribute them. these people are inherently not tech oriented - they won’t even use AI i’d argue. i do think the barrier to entry is lower, so your people who have that problem solving mentality will be able to do this - this person is not your drunk uncle typically.

Your closing comment is similar to Ray Dalio's responses about imminent debt crisis/war: there's not much you can do to adjust your investment strategy that lasts beyond the societal collapse time horizon (ie, if there's a world war, that will likely result in immense and unpredictable value destruction). Do what you can to position yourself assuming AI replacement won't happen in a catastrophic way.

Inserting AI into a poker game is like putting a hydraulic jack into a weightlifting competition. No matter how much AI evolves humans still like to compete against humans.

Hi Steve! No idea if you're gonna see this, but I'm the guy who waited on you at Le Petit Chef this evening. Lovely to meet you! Loving the podcasts.
