Easily one of the most honest and dependable running shoe reviewers. No free trips and free shoes and free clothes lol kind of crazy how so many don't understand that kind of bias interferes with an accurate review of a shoe. Whether it's conscience or not, it sure will.
Really pleased you talk about heavier runners as it’s often overlooked.
Love it, unsponsored, un-gifted, I wish the rest would realise this is the only way to get credibility 🎉
EVO SL has one of the most buttery smooth rides. The grip really "sticks" and gives you more confidence to focus on pushing forward rather than having to stabilize yourself.
I like my 13's, ran 3 5k PB's in a row and ran my longest distance 19.1k.
Love both shoes, perhaps the Evo SL a bit more. Evo SL is more overtly good and enjoyable. However, Boston 13 is one of those shoes that is not as in your face good during a run. However, as the miles tick, you realize that it’s in fact an amazing shoe. Particularly as you approach double digit miles. Superblast, together with Evo SL, are tied for my favorite non-racing focused shoes ever. However, Boston shares with Superblast that covertly good beginning sensation that gives you that pause the longer the run goes. With Superblast I’m always impressed how fresh my legs feel after a long run. With Boston 12 and 13 I get a little bit of that as well. Superblast is a unique shoe and I don’t think Boston 12 and 13 are comparable, just that they share that one trait I just mentioned of improving as the run goes on. At least for me. I have 200+ miles on my Superblast, btw, so I think it’s a shoe I know well. Regarding the outsole, what I understood from the woman who designed the shoe, the dark bits are also Continental. The lightraxxion is just the light grey bits. The toe off patch she called something like continental pro or plus or something along those lines. It’s a bit tackier than regular continental. Given that a lot of people are lumping the dark bits of outsole as lightraxxion, I’m unsure if I’m now questioning my understanding of her explanation. Regardless of what it is, grip felt quite impressive as always with adidas. Agree with you on the 12 vs 13 ride. It’s pretty much the same ride. Have low mileage on the 12 and simply got lucky with the draw on the 13. I feel like lightstrike pro has a two stage break in period, based on my experience with Evo SL. One is an initial stage break in round 20-40 miles. Another one around 100, or just before that. The foam gets softer and much more pleasant at slower paces and early miles of a run. The reason I bring this up is that since both my 12 and 13 don’t have a lot of miles in them, I’m basing off purely on initial impression. I don’t know if it’s going to remain that way after 100 miles. In any case, my initial impression was, same shoe with a much better upper, and thus fit. I went TTS on my 13 and felt going TTS great. With the 12, I feel like I could’ve gone a half size down. I’m using US sizes as a reference, though.
I love the message we get from your mum when you buy some Ben Parkes gear ❤
Bostons > evo SL Not enough stability on the evos for me
The lack of sawtooth laces isn't a minor point. At this price, at this point in time, not having laces that stick in place isn't acceptable. It might cost them a few more pence, but it costs us in having a fit that changes over the run, and retying and double or even triple tying laces, particularly as they age.
Just ordered a pair for £90, as a heavier runner i was sold on this review and luckily found a wonderful deal, just in time to add it in the rotation for my winter running.
