Mastering Breakups: Reframing Loss and Establishing No Contact

Reframe breakups not as failures, but as necessary, transformative steps leading you closer to your true path by applying hard-won wisdom on closure and boundaries.

Short Summary

  • Breakups are devastating but essential periods that force necessary life redirection toward what is truly meant for you.
  • Closure is often prolonged unnecessarily; seek high-level answers rather than debating granular past plans.
  • Strict "No Contact" rules, including digital boundaries (unfollowing, deleting texts), are critical for healthy healing.
  • Change your environment and routine elements (coffee shops, habits) to force psychological refreshment rather than dwelling on familiar places.
  • If you initiate the split, definitively close the door; offering false hope selfishly guarantees lingering pain for both parties.

This discussion details intense personal breakup experiences to demystify the healing process. Hosts Alex Cooper and Lauren share hard-earned insights on common pitfalls like pursuing endless closure and failing to set firm digital boundaries, providing actionable advice regardless of whether you initiated the ending or were left blindsided.

Honestly , I was struggling hard trying to keep away and stop talking to my ex… so then I deleted everything .. text messages, phone call log, photos, and his contact. I picked up journaling again and instead of reaching out to him I’d just write there.. then I picked up a really good book. It’s called single on purpose by John Kim. At first I thought to myself this is a male author what could he possibly teach me about heartbreak and I said let me just try it and boy did I eat my words… men go through it just as bad as woman do. & this book enlightened me to get out of my comfort zone. I never ever ate alone in public .. I would get take out and eat alone privately at home but never in public and this book helped me get out of my own way and push myself to do something out of my normal and expand my horizons. & ever since every day becomes easier.. the weight feels less and less and I wake up with intention for myself by myself and that’s the grace us woman forget to to give ourselves credit for. So it gets easier and I know it might seem like it doesn’t but you have to believe that it will.

People choose to stop growing. Things get hard in relationships, but if the effort to improve together and as individuals isn't matched, it will never work.

broke up with my boyfriend of 10 years a month ago… things have been difficult. we live together, bought a house together, going to be doing holidays together both from same hometown. feeling confused, heartbroken and scared.. what’s more important is settling isn’t fulfilling for everyone

Wow thanks for sharing that story of your break up. I wasnt sure i would resonate with this video but i relate to you so much. Feeling rock bottom right now but well get through this. My ex did tell me he loved me when he left me ( due to not wanting kids)... it sucks but ultimately i agree they are doing the right thing for them and for you xxx
