The more time goes by, the less often I question myself and the more willing I am to stand out from the crowd. To stand in the truth unflinchingly is a sign of nobility, imho.
People are scary angry anymore when someone questions what they believe even if they believe what they believe because it's what they are repeatedly told...so many of us let them think we agree when really we don't agree at all...we just think telling them what we actually think or believe seems too dangerous to do it.
I love this! My dad is an alcoholic. I was determined not to be like him, so I refused to drink or take drugs. I would still go to parties with coworkers but drink only soda and watch them make fools of themselves. They would still pressure me and try to get me to drink, and even do stupid crap like pour beer in my soda. That was 46+ years ago. Some of them told me later in life that they admired me for my strength of character to stand up to that peer pressure. I learned very quickly from this that their need to get me to do what they were doing AND TO VALIDATE THEIR BEHAVIOR was huge--that peer pressure was more about THEIR insecurity than mine. This gave me great confidence later in life to never be afraid to be odd man out, or to insist on a correct answer even when everyone else is wrong. I even had somebody ask me once in a college class "You're still gonna stick with that when everybody else says it's wrong?" Without hesitation I said hell yes. The DANGER in this is appearing to be arrogant and a know-it-all, or just contrarian. If you're going to stick your neck out like that, you better be certain that you're right because you'll never hear the end of it otherwise!
Does this AI woman also belong to the Asch experiment?!
If always been the different one, so I would always choose the answer I believed to be right, even if I am wrong . I believe age helps me even more now. I donโt really care what people think ๐
I would have messed up their theory
Just one of the reasons people hate me.
Interesting concept and good job relating it to modern infosperes.
Chase is gonnna be making a lot of people in media very uncomfortable with this channel...
Fascinating. It explains a lot. Thank you, Chase and team ๐ฏ
