Mike Tyson - "Sometimes I get in my head and think I’m somebody, and then I’m easily offended. But when I know I’m nobody, I could never be offended"
11 pages of notes. Nearly an hour of rewinding, pondering, considering. One of the most valuable Youtube videos I have ever experienced. I'm beyond grateful.
If only I could remember all these responses in the moment.
A false apology is an admission of guilt.......wow!!!! This should be shown in all high schools as part of life skills.
My name is Karen. I went to a restaurant at 2:00pm. It wasn’t crowded. When I gave my name to the hostess, she pursed her lips, swiveled her head back and forth and wrote my name on a wait list. I sat down in the entrance on a bench and waited to be seated. There were only 4 tables of diners in the entire restaurant. I thought to myself “I’ve got all day”. The hostess wanted me to yell or make a scene and I refused. Two more customers entered and were immediately seated while I waited. Finally a waiter approached me and asked if I was waiting for a to-go order. I told him no, I’m just waiting to be seated. He immediately seated me and apologized even though he wasn’t to blame. I used to really like my name but it is now permanently associated with bad behavior. I’ve considered changing my name but that doesn’t feel right to me.
“That would be me apologising just to make this go away, and I owe you more honesty than that”
Sometimes the best thing to say… is nothing.
You’re doing the lords work out here brotha. Seriously. If everyone studied this kind of information and practiced these teachings, we’d have such an amazing world. Thank you for all your hard work, and please, please, keep it up.
Man, this is great and all, but remembering all of this in the moment and having composure is really hard.
