I teally like this movie. It's not as good as the original, but it's a lot better than the vast majority of Disney's live-action remakes. And that's worth celebrating.
51:26 So no, this is not a new version. This did happen in the original. All the Vikings did crowd on top and capture Toothless in this scene.
Nico Parker (Astrid) has her momma's acting chops for sure. She is Thandie Newton's daughter after all, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised. Thoroughly loved her portrayal of Astrid.
The casting was great! Gerard Butler really nailed it. The actor playing Hiccup was on spot! That's how you do a live action remake! Somebody tell disney.
The irony of what Stoick said 52:11. " If she could see you now standing there with them."
36:04 but remember , no one from Berk knew anything about NightFury. No one has ever ridden a dragon from Berk. So, him learning how to fix toothless missing wing, he flies with toothless and he’s using the cheat sheet for wing positions. Plus they’ve already bonded and toothless became a companion to Hiccup.
Seeing how they made red death 50× bigger than in the original, most surprising part of the movie for me
The scene where they captured Toothless broke me so much more in the live action. Like I was actually worried they were going to kill him even though I know that wouldn't make sense. Also I like how the expanded on Astrid's character early on and sprinkled in some things that we don't learn until later movies like his mom's name, the fact that dragons shed scales etc. They also seem to have deepened the plot by saying a lot of tribes got together and built Berk specifically to end the dragon problem. I still like the original for the flight scenes. They had to make them realistic for the live action but I like them being whimsical and cartoon-ish.
1:09:00 the real challenge to having a dragon as a pet wouldn't be the required size of the house, but ensuring that the entire house and all of your belongings are flame-proof...otherwise all it'll take is a single sneeze from your dragon and half your house burns down.
17:20 I like how hiccup asks for a 3rd option. Always looking for another way
