Throughout the movie, it is implied that Van Helsing is the archangel Gabriel. He mentions "fighting the Romans at Masada" (to which Carl responds, "That was in 73 A.D.!"), referring to the Siege of Masada in the First Jewish-Roman War. Later, Dracula gives his first name as "Gabriel" and refers to him as the "Left Hand of God". Gabriel is considered God's messenger, and was the angel to tell Zechariah and the Virgin Mary of John the Baptist and Jesus' births respectively.
The actor who played Igor is Benny from The Mummy wit Brendan Frazier. Almost the exact same kinda character 😂😂😂
Seeing Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine in DP and W was nostalgic. But, seeing him return as Van Helsing would be mind blowing.
Richard Roxburgh as Dracula understood the assignment. He chewed the scenery and spat it out! Absolutely crushed it!
What so many people miss: the masquerade ball, when Dracula dips her back and you see he isn't in the reflection next to her, NEITHER IS ANYONE ELSE. 😂😂
The casting of Dracula in this one is spot on for this movie. Not only did they need to find someone who could act as campy as they needed, but they also needed someone who could transform into a winged vampire on call, and they found him.
This movie along with a few others from this era will always have a special place in my heart, as they were some of the last movies me and my dad watch together at the cinema before he passed away😢 RIP Dad…. I miss you everyday
Richard Roxburgh (Dracula) went on to marry one of the Brides IRL, the black-haired one Verona. They first met while filming this movie
this movie really was ahead of it's time. the monster verse combined before that was even a thing that studios want to make now a days. The intro being in black and white, the color grading, the music, the action scenes, the werewolf transformations the brothers especially ripping off your skin to reveal the monster underneath chef kiss. The brides dresses being their wings, dracula's acting, the actor killed it. also the whole experiment part, makes a light source equal to that of the intensity of the sun, why would you not immediately think could use this against vampires lol.
The monk with Van Helsing who played Boromir's brother Faramir in LOTR was also the narrator and one of Leonidas soldiers (the one who lost his eye) in 300 as well.
