I've had elevated cholesterol (255-500)for almost 30 yrs when I first started tracking as well as elevated ldl (up to 380). (Testing for familial hypercholesterolemia was positive a year ago.) I refuse to take statins because cholesterol is so important for the brain. Decided to have heart scan done in the last 6 months for my own piece of mind. It came back 0. 👏
I went Keto in 2018 and had a CAC after a year which showed a zero. I went strict carnivore later in 2018 and still strict today. This year had a CTA with contrast and scored a still perfect zero CAC and in the words of my cardiologist “you have zero plaque in the arteries around your heart”. This was with an average of total 350, LDL 250, HDL 100 and triglycerides of low 40’s. ApoB of 140-160. IMO, we have to look at people through 2 different lenses. Lipid Energy Model or glucose energy model. I belong to the LMHR group and consistently they have on average the same high numbers including high ApoB across the board. I know it’s not that simple but in the LMHR study, not a single person in the study showed a progression of any kind in atherosclerosis. Not a single outlier! Also see Bart Kay for an explanation on the Randle Cycle and its explanation of the competition of glucose and fatty acids.
This is the best explanation on this topic I have ever heard. Thank you!
This was an excellent lesson. Thank you, Dr. Boz
You just keep getting better and better!!!
very complicated for me…
Cholesterol is not a toxin.
I just finished watching this for the second time and find it the best I have watched on this subject. I am 80 years old and in good health. I've been on a keto diet for 6+ years but I'm pretty much eliminating carbs from my diet now. I have ordered the labs Dr. Boz highlighted in the lecture and created a spreadsheet like she used tonight. I have filled in past years lipid numbers and will enter the more important numbers highlighted here (i.e. particles number and size). I really had no clue or didn't understand previously. The elephant in my room is that although I ran consistently when I was 25-65 (walk now) I ate the SAD. Consequently when I had a CAC Scan a year ago my number (900+) was so high it suggested I start planning my funeral. So I am now insulin sensitive and hoping the ketones will mitigate past damage. Such a great lecture Dr. Boz.
