Description

Sabine Hossenfelder says quantum computers are only useful for breaking codes. She's wrong — and my undergraduates are building the proof. What's happening in my lab right now has nothing to do with cryptography, and everything to do with the future of AI. I'm a cosmologist at UC San Diego teaching undergraduates to build, program, and eventually launch quantum computers — possibly to the Moon via Artemis! We cover: why Sabine's code-breaking verdict misses the real story, how free tools like Quantum Rings are closing the education gap Sabine thinks is a hardware problem, why Q-Day just got moved up to 2029, what my students are actually doing with quantum computers in my lab, and why the next generation of quantum physicists won't need a billion-dollar facility to train. The bottleneck isn't the hardware. It's what we're teaching — and who we're teaching it to. This video is basically very long commercial for quantum computers.

Are these peer reviewed papers? What is the longest code a quantum computer (not a simulation of a quantum computer) has broken and how long did it take? Thanks for sharing.

I love the sound of 1200 baud in the morning

Quantum mechanics is already used in the doping calculations of P-N junctions of semiconductors (I took a class on it, in my undergrad work).

There's a reason quantum computing hasn't changed your life yet — and it has nothing to do with the hardware. 📬 Full transcript, bonus content, and my Monday M.A.G.I.C. Message → briankeating.com/yt The 3 moments worth rewatching: ▸ 00:51 — Q-Day just moved up. Here's what that means ▸ 05:33 — The free tool that changes everything ▸ 15:30 — What my students built that Sabine didn't see coming Question for you: Is the quantum computing bottleneck an education problem, a hardware problem, or a funding problem — and does your answer change after watching this?

Dr. Keating, inviting Sabine Hossenfelder to talk about this fascinating topic - quantum computing - would make a great video to watch. 🤞🤞

Sabine is amazing. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront Dr. Keating.

"revolution isnt in the papers, its in the tooling", it doesnt matter if you have the tools, when you don't know what to do with it

Love the title, my rock isn't useless either, I just don't know how to use it to break encryption yet... I support quantum computing, not for the end goal, but for all the other useful technologies it spawned that are convenient for other useful stuff.

Avogadro number ≈ ((8π Boltzmann constant × Planck temperature)/(m_e × c^2)) The qubits are mols, and the mols are atoms and protons, N_0?
