I hope they can zero in on the actual mass. Can’t weight for the answer.
I want a law preventing scientists from naming things. Particle spin refers to something that's not really a particle, and it doesn't spin.
why is it that once you said "negative mass" I remembered Alcubierre drive and started to shake and shiver...
Jean Pierre Petit, the father of the Janus model has been saying this for decades: the existence of negative masses. It would be interesting to invite this guy before he passes away (quite old) rather than inviting the same people over and over again. This is a message from an old subscriber (when you had barely 5k subscribers).
The DESI result on negative neutrino mass is real, and it's stranger than the headlines suggest. I sat down with Kyle Dawson — who actually co-runs the DESI collaboration — and theorist Daniel Green to work through what the 4.2σ tension actually means and whether ΛCDM survives it. Full conversation here: https://youtu.be/LPx4oiwGp2k Timestamp 30:22 if you want to go straight to the negative-mass discussion.
Dr Brian seems to have overcome 'the problem of the elongated jacket sleeves' by gluing his arms to his living room table😂
Youre always one my favorites to breakdown this kind of stuff. I’m one of those people who is smart enough to enjoy learning about these things but not smart enough to understand it without really smart guys like you breaking it down. So fun to think about. Listen to you, Brian Cox, David Kippling, and Mahesh Shenoy almost every day. Feel smarter and dumber at the same time every time I listen to you guys.
You are getting way better than I first imagined. Onya mate!
Anti-gravity? "and Podcasters" was a gem.
I was hoping you would bring up n1, n2, and n3 mass eigenstate neutrinos and how that fits in to all of this.
