What I got from this video on how to prune pomegranate trees: 1. Always use protection 2. Clean out the bottom 3. Three Ds plus the C 4. Just the tips 5. Be wary of upward growth 6. Get aggressive with the long trunk 7. The bush should be shrubby, maybe even have two bushes 8. Don't wait to trim the bush when it's no longer dormant 9. If its got a bit of a curve, that's normal. It might not be that big a deal 10. Creatures WILL notice your "pomegranates". The less ways you can give it to access it, the better 11. Fertilize the back as well Thanks Kev 🤭❤
Wait.... why have I never thought about growing a pomegranate? I spend a small fortune on them I eat so many of them.... I never thought I could just grow one!!!
Pomegranate are so messy but they taste amazing
Happy growing season to everyone! 🥬🥬🥬
I will never have a pomegranate tree and yet I watched the video :D
We have a lot of people from the Middle East where I live. I actually worked up the nerve to ask one how to choose a pomegranate at the store. He said you want it to be firm and not feel like water inside. No bruises as that's caused rot in the arils.
Thanks Eric. I've not seen a good pomegranate pruning guide like this one until now. My poms are quite tall. I need to prune them harder next winter, even though I pruned them pretty aggressively this year. I grow Salivatsky and Georgian beauty here in Alabama. I'm probably going to add two Afghan varieties this spring. Many thanks, sir.
Thanks! A couple months ago I butchered our two pomegranates because they were too tall and too bushy. So, maybe next season I won't get many fruit.
As someone with a Pom tree - Thanks for the great pruning adivice!
People underestimate pruning so much… this just proved how important it is
