short answer: money. long answer: preying on nostalgia during dark times, also money.
1: Money 2: AnImAtIoN iS fOr DuMb KiDs
I donβt think it would be so much of an issue if the remakes actually enhanced and honored the originals. Right now they feel lifeless and disrespect the worlds there recreating
I dont know why people seem to think children wouldnt watch older things. They cant if its not shown to them, but there is no reason a child born after the 2000s wouldnt enjoy watching a movie from the 80s for example
Lack of creaitivity and greed. Leave the Classics Alone Disney
Iβm glad this video isnβt just spent entirely stating the obvious βthey do it for money,β and instead focuses on the how and why they make money from it.
I contest that last point about these just being more adaptations. A reviewer said it best when the live action Beauty and the Beast came out: "It's not a book, where you're adapting someone else's vision. This is YOU, making the SAME THING, AGAIN."
13:08, yes, but the difference is that it was an adaptation of some other form of media, not a movie adapting a movie.
0:11 money!
The biggest reason Mulan flopped (and why I refuse to see it) is that the only thing they took from the original story is the heroine's name. Everything else is different, and they forgot the reason why we all fell in love with it -- it was about an underdog who worked hard and improved herself to the point where she excelled and became a leader. The remake was about a "chosen one" Mary Sue who was immediately amazing and never had to work at anything. It's called character growth. In addition, the team for the first movie researched Chinese culture and where it strayed it was for story/character purposes. The remake figured if they threw around "Chi" and looked vaguely similar it was all they needed to do.
