Analyzing The Moon Woke Up: Mythological Origins of Planetary Threats
Decode the cryptic narrative structure of The Moon Woke Up. Unlock potential cosmological answers by mapping the events onto foundational Greek and Roman mythology.
Short Summary
- Detail the devastating lunar impact and the subsequent rise of Friend Industries across seven episodes.
- Identify the dual threats: Tentacle Monsters replacing planets and Giant Hands removing them.
- Connect the awakened planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus) to mythological figures who contested Gaia (Earth).
- Hypothesize the role of Chaos, represented by the Giant Hands, as a force beyond human comprehension.
This analysis breaks down the escalating plot of the analog horror series The Moon Woke Up, spanning the initial impact, societal recovery, and deep space exploration. It uses specific mythological lineages to provide a theoretical framework for the motivations of the cosmic threats, suggesting the conflict is ancient and systemic.

I'm still annoyed that he named the monsters "moonfected" when "LUNAtics" was right freaking there!
"Naturally, nobody wants to get close to Uranus." Best joke ever made of any analog horror I've ever seen Edit: thanks for all the likes, guys!

Element-75U might just be a joke name since U-Rhenium sounds a lot like Uranium. Probably since it is super radioactive.
If we're looking at the Greco-Roman myth aspect too, that could be another reason why the first three planets were left alone. Mercury, Venus, and Mars weren't born yet when all the drama between Gaia and the gods went down. Mercury and Mars are both Jupiter's children, and Venus was still in the ocean just hanging out.
So in one universe, we have the Moon literally waking up and trying to devour the Earth, and in another we have the sun waking up and shining it's melting rays on all who live.
9:08 "moon-fected" is literally what the word "lunatic" originally meant

19:40 small but important correction. The kid and the doomsayer did know beforehand. But the tribe was praying -the day- that the moon woke up and was visible on the sky, smile and all. So I think there's no proof of them knowing beforehand~
That 6 7 was NOT just the wind
