Best scene has to be how Mohamed Al-Fayed thought he was going to be drawn into the inner circle with the Spencers and the Royals in shared grief but the Royals and Spencers closed ranks and excluded him and no mention of Dodi's death.
I think the two actresses who played Diana were excellent. I thought they did a good job handling Diana's story.
I cried so much during episode 4, it was like reliving the trauma of finding out her death.. rip.. she really was the people’s princess 👑 Even though a lot of it was dramatization I like how it added to the real life events. It gave the audience a deeper perspective of how her and Dodi’s death, which made it even more tragic. The scenes of the agreement that was made between the 2 and their ghosts interacting with Charles, Dodi’s dad and the queen was a nice bit of closure. I think that’s what we as the audience needed. I think that they did the first part of the season beautifully, and with such high expectations I think they respected her passing. My heart goes out to all the royals, especially King Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry, sending many prayers and well wishes ❤ I can’t imagine they would watch the show, but I can imagine seeing the ads and a women who looks like their mother/ex wife must be heartbreaking to see 😢
After Six seasons, I’m shocked that critics waste their time STILL talking about how this is a dramatization. British media is the worst, they just won’t stop crying about it. Get over it! It’s a fictional story based on real life events. It’s been portrayed well, regardless of whether or not it makes the real life figures uncomfortable. I feel they have been very kind to Charles and Camilla. I feel the Queen was justified to feel Ill toward Diana after all she’s done to wreak havoc with the royals (I am a Diana fan, as even I can’t pretend she didn’t mess with them when she wanted to ) I think the accident was shown tastefully, and watching the reactions of her family was heartbreaking. I wish they had shown that Diana had friends around her. She was NOT alone, many who loved her rallied around her and we don’t see much of that here beyond her therapist.. Not even her sisters? Sad for Di.
Im hoping that the deaths of the queen mother and margaret in Part 2 arent overshadowed by william. Margaret in particular has been such a huge part of this show, it would be a crime for it to be a footnote. What is definitely a footnote in these recent seasons is the parallel political story. The queen's relationships with Churchill, Eden, Macmillan etc were some of the most interesting parts for me.
I felt like it was invading the privacy of the Al fayed family. The scenes made me uncomfortable when watching. Did cry a lot during episode 4, but more because it's real life and having lived through it in the 90s. Interested to see Catherine ans William's relationship. Just hope it's respectful. Seasons 1 and 2 of the Crown were the best for sure.
You cannot talk about the Royal Family during the 1980s and 1990s without talking about Diana. I think that the producers balanced what happened in Paris in a way that did not point complete blame at anyone. I think they handled the Dodi part of the story correctly. There tends to be a huge section of the public who believes Diana had found "true love" with Dodi, when the two had only been dating about a month, and while there might have been affection between them, having 'rushed' into marriage with Prince Charles, they according to Diana had only been on 13 dates before their wedding, I doubt she would have been in such a hurry to marry someone she barely knew, especially not with her two boys to consider. I liked this part of season 6 and look forward to the second part.
It had me in tears - and I cannot criticise any of it. It’s a dramatisation of events we only know part of. I thought it was superb and I look forward to the next half of season 6.
Diana was my only reason for watching the show at all. This is what I was waiting for and I couldn't ask for a better actress to have played her. The look, the voice, everything! I didn't like them adding things that we all know didn't happen, but beyond that, I don't know why it's getting slammed.
